Sometimes travel plans are made at the absolute last minute. Whether it is an unexpected family emergency, an urgent business meeting, or a sudden weekend getaway, securing a train ticket in India at short notice can feel like winning the lottery. This is where IRCTC Tatkal booking comes to the rescue.
Tatkal (which translates to "immediately" in Sanskrit) is a premium booking quota designed specifically for immediate travel. However, because Tatkal seats are extremely limited and hundreds of thousands of users attempt to book them simultaneously, you need to understand the rules and have a precise strategy to succeed.

- Cancellation & Refunds: NO REFUND is granted on the cancellation of confirmed Tatkal tickets. If your ticket is waitlisted or RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), standard cancellation rules apply.
- ID Requirements: You must enter a valid government-issued ID number for at least one passenger during the booking process, and carry that physical ID during the journey.
